
IEEE Young Professionals Bangladesh, in collaboration with the IEEE Bangladesh Section and supported by the IEEE Young Professionals and the IEEE Foundation, successfully hosted the IEEE Young Professionals Networking Meet-Up 2025. The event was held on November 08, 2025, at the United International University (UIU), Dhaka, with the IEEE UIU Student Branch serving as the co-organizer. The program served as a dynamic platform for students, academics, and industry experts to exchange knowledge, share insights, and explore opportunities for collaboration in the fields of engineering and technology.
The inauguration session featured distinguished personalities from academia and industry who shared their valuable insights and perspectives. The following prominent individuals addressed the attendees during the inauguration: Engr. Md. Abdul Moqaddem, Treasurer of United International University; Dr. M. Rezwan Khan, Professor Emeritus, Dept. of EEE & Director, IAR, Chairman of the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh; Dr. Raqibul Mostofa, Professor, Dept. of EEE & Vice Chair, IEEE ComSoc Bangladesh Chapter; Prof. M. Imamul Hassan Bhuiyan, Professor, Department of EEE, BUET & Chair, IEEE Bangladesh Section; Prof. Celia Shahnaz, Professor, Department of EEE, BUET; Advisor, IEEE Young Professionals Bangladesh 2025-2026; Chair, IEEE WIE Nominations and Appointments 2023-2024; Chair, IEEE WIE Committee; Engr. Shohel Rana, Operations & Engineering Manager, Cybernetics Hi-Tech Solutions (Pvt) Ltd. & Chair, IEEE Young Professionals Bangladesh. They highlighted the critical role of young professionals in the nation’s technological advancement and emphasized the importance of strong synergy between academia and industry. The speakers collectively underscored the event’s objective of fostering leadership and innovation within the IEEE community.
The crucial keynote talk on “Emerging Industry Trends” was then delivered by Sazal Hazra, CEO of Fiber @Home Global Limited. His presentation provided attendees with valuable insights into the rapidly changing technological landscape and the future direction of the industry, inspiring them to stay ahead of the curve. The keynote address was introduced by Dr. A.K.M. Muzahidul Islam, Professor, Department of CSE and Advisor, IEEE Computer Society UIU Student Branch Chapter.
An engaging panel discussion titled “Navigating Professional Growth with IEEE,” was moderated by Dr. Sadid Muneer (Associate Professor, Dept. of EEE & Undergraduate Coordinator). Panelists included Akib Chowdhury (Assistant Manager, Fresco EME Limited), Sakib Ahmed (Java Developer, OneIT Pty Ltd), and Md Maruful Hasan Sabbir (Business Development Manager, Enterprise Solution, Link3 Technologies Ltd). The discussion provided a roadmap on how young professionals can effectively leverage IEEE membership and resources for continuous professional development.
An engaging panel discussion titled “Future Career Planning in Industry-Academia and Related Preparation,” moderated by Dr. Intekhab Alam (Professor, Dept. of EEE & Advisor, IEEE IAS UIU Student Branch Chapter). The panelists were Prof. Dr. M. Mofazzal Hossain (Pro-Vice Chancellor, Southeast University, Senior Member, IEEE) and Prof. Dr. Shaheena Sultana (Women IT Leadership Specialist, ICSETEP, UGC, Bangladesh, Prof. (On leave), Notre Dame University). They offered practical advice on aligning academic knowledge with industry demands and preparing for diverse career paths.
A special “Experience Sharing from Women in Industry” panel discussion was held, moderated by Prof. Celia Shahnaz. The panel featured industry leaders: Sumaiya Tabbassom (Executive Engineer, Contract, Planning & Design, Power Grid Bangladesh PLC), Anamika Bhakta (Senior Director, Regulatory Affairs and Communications, Robi Axiata PLC & SMIEEE), and Suraiya Akhter (Senior Specialist, Technology Strategy & Transformation, Grameenphone Ltd). The session successfully highlighted inspiring career journeys, emphasizing skill development and leadership among women engineers.
The afternoon featured a dedicated “Networking Break & Group Activities,” led by Engr. Shohel Rana (Chair, IEEE Young Professionals Bangladesh) and Abu Shufian (Research Activity Coordinator, IEEE Young Professionals Bangladesh), promoting peer-to-peer and professional interaction. This was followed by a lively Quiz Competition, moderated by Md. Abu Saleh (Head of IP Telephony, BRACNET Limited, Industry Relations Coordinator, IEEE YP Bangladesh), adding an element of fun and learning.
The event concluded with the Award and Closing Ceremony immediately following the lunch break. This session involved the distribution of prizes and certificates, and final remarks, successfully concluding the meet-up. The IEEE Young Professionals Networking Meet-Up 2025 proved to be a meaningful and memorable event that successfully bridged the gap between young professionals and industry leaders, reaffirming the commitment of IEEE Young Professionals Bangladesh to fostering innovation, professional growth, and strong industry-academia collaboration.
