IEEE Bangladesh Section organized the ‘IEEE Bangladesh Section Industry Forum’ on the 29th of November at FARS Hotel & Resorts. The event took place together with the 4 co-located conferences, PEEIACON, SPICSCON, RAAICON & BECITHCON, hosted by IEEE Bangladesh Section and IEEE BDS society chapters. The theme of the forum was ‘Emerging Industrial Applications to foster Industry-Academia Collaboration for SDGs’. The whole event consisted of invited speeches from esteemed guests and magnates from the industry and also a discussion session. The whole forum was moderated by Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah, Professor, Department of EEE, BUET and Education Chair, IEEE Humanitarian Activities Committee.
Mr. Foley started the invited speech session sharing his views regarding the social opportunities and challenges of the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’ and what role Grameenphone Ltd. has been playing. Mr. Mahtab also shared his views on the topic and shared the role and initiatives of Robi Axiata Ltd. Mr. Islam talked about ‘Industry, Academia and Government Collaboration for national Capacity Building’ and what steps eGeneration has taken for implementation of the motive. The next speaker Mr. Imtiaz shed light on the most discussed topics of the 4IR – ‘Introduction and Convergence of AI, Blockchain and IoT for revolutionizing business and ensuring smart life.’ The discussion on AI in business was more intensified by the Mr. Oli Ahad who specifically talked on ‘how businesses in Bangladesh are applying AI’. Mr. Huda spoke about how the mobile financial services are significant in improving lifestyle and what role bKash, the leading e-commerce company in Bangladesh, has played. The next speaker Mr. Zafir Chowdhury, being the youngest of all but the bold, shared Bondstein’s part and initiative on industry-academia collaboration and what challenges they have faced and how they have reshaped upon learning. The session was concluded by the speech from Dr. Reduan Khan on the ‘Possibilities and challenges of 5G’ elevating the whole session into the vision for the future.
The response from the participants were overwhelming. The discussion sparked a many new ways of thinking and many new perspectives in their mind. Whether they choose their career in industry or academia, there is always a need for collaboration. All the speakers were awarded with a token of appreciation as the end of the program.
