1st Choice Position Statement: considering IEEE Bangladesh Section (max 500 Words)

The field of Engineering and Technology is changing rapidly hence the views and necessities of the society. As a professional society, IEEE Member and regions are also facing few very real challenges. Without innovative activities and dedicated volunteering, it will be difficult to attract new members from different parts of the engineering education and professions. IEEE is coping well with various products, services and awards in different categories along with recognizing high quality conference and journal publications. But, sometimes, all these services cannot attract new members from developing countries as a result the membership growth becomes slow. Moreover, industries are more reluctant to contribute and collaborate with cause of IEEE mainly due to lack of communication and common interest.
Fortunately, with all the limitations and hindrances IEEE Bangladesh section has shown tremendous growth in almost every sector, i.e. membership development, student branch activities, opening new student branches, student/professional activities, industrial affiliations, humanitarian activities, educational activities, awards and communications etc. in last few years. It was possible with the hard works of few dedicated volunteers and positive leadership of the executive committees. Number of IEEE BDS technically co-sponsored conferences has been increased substantially, as a result a huge growth in the research activities and publications of the country in the engineering sectors has been observed. All these sectors require different kind of activity plans along with experienced mentor-ship and leadership among different level of the IEEE community. The leader should be a dedicated volunteer with the intention to go extra mile to uphold the high standard of previous executive committees of IEEE BDS.
I have been involved with IEEE AIUB student branch since the inception in 2006 as advisor. Now, IEEE AIUB student branch is one of the largest and prominent student branches not only in Bangladesh but also in the IEEE region 10. The branch is organizing various local activities along with 2 global flagship events regularly. Moreover, I have served as Education activity coordinator in the IEEE BDS 2016 executive committee. That gave me the opportunity to observe how IEEE BDS executive committee performs different tasks and achieves excellence and global reputation. With these experience and voluntary intentions, I would like to humbly express my interest to serve in the 2020 IEEE BDS executive committee as the Vice Chair (Activity). I believe, I will be able to contribute by helping the chair in designing IEEE BDS activity plan for different stakeholders along with concerned members, coordinators and moderators. Most importantly, I shall try to improve the communications among the IEEE BDS executive Committee, student branches and other professional societies.
Dear respected members of IEEE BDS, in accomplishing its mission of advancing technology for innovative activities has provided me with many opportunities to grow professionally and contribute for the community. I look forward to the opportunity to continue contributing with your vote for me for the position of Vice-Chair (Activity). Thank you for your support.

I was a session chair of IEEE WIECON-ECE 2015 (the first ever IEEE Section sponsored conference in Bangladesh). Later, I arranged a special session on Educational activities in the IEEE Region 10 Humanitarian Technology Conference (R10-HTC) held in December 2017 (the first ever IEEE Region level international conference in Bangladesh). I was also a member of the inaugural IEEE BDS Mini-POCO 2016 (Panel of Conference Organizers) organizing committee and presented a session as speaker. Through, IEEE AIUB SB, we are organizing many flagship events of IEEE BDS and recruiting one of the largest portions of student members for IEEE BDS.
