1st Choice Position Statement: considering IEEE Bangladesh Section (max 500 Words)

I believe by being the Awards Coordinator of IEEE Bangladesh Section, I will able to stimulate the interest of the Section’s members by recognizing their contributions in advancing the fields of interest to IEEE and to the benefit of our society. This in the long run will enhance the image and prestige of the organization, its members, and the profession as a whole, thereby further promoting the growth and contributions of IEEE in Bangladesh.

1st Choice Qualification relevant to the applied post considering IEEE Bangladesh Section (max 500 Words)

I received my B.Sc. from the Department of EEE, BUET in 2009 having ranked 2nd in the graduating class. I completed my M.Sc. in EEE from the same department in 2012 and received fully funded admission for Ph.D. studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, which is one of the top ten universities for Electrical Engineering program in the USA. My excellence in academic and research activities earned me awards of Fellowship, Research Assistantship, Teaching Assistantship and Conference Travel Grants from the University of Michigan. I also received awards for research presented at the College of Engineering Graduate Symposium and Lurie Nanofabrication Facility Users Symposium held at the University of Michigan (UM), Ann Arbor. I received my Ph.D. degree from the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) dept. of the UM, Ann Arbor in 2016.
Among other awards, I received the IEEE Electron Devices Society Best Paper Award for research work presented at the 7th IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development. My supervised undergraduate project teams have also received awards at different inter-university competitions.
I believe I am a strong proponent of academic, research and organizational collaboration to advance the field of electrical and electronic engineering for greater benefit of the society. It is noteworthy that I, in collaboration with academicians from a different Dept. of BUET, recently received a research grant of more than 3 crore Bangladeshi Taka from the Govt. of Bangladesh. I have also maintained active academic and research collaboration with different international organizations including both industry and academia, such as University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy, North Carolina BUET Alumni Association, and Applied Materials Inc., USA.
Regarding my professional experience, I joined the Dept. of EEE, BUET as a Lecturer in 2009. From 2013-2016, I served as Graduate Student Research Assistant and Graduate Student Teaching Assistant at the UM, Ann Arbor. In 2016, I was promoted to the position of Assistant Professor in the Dept. of EEE, BUET in 2016. I have been regularly serving in the Technical and Organizing Committees of numerous international conferences. I have also served as the peer reviewer of IEEE Electron Device Letters, IEEE International Conference on Telecommunication and Photonics (IEEE ICTP), IEEE Women in Engineering Conference on Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE WIE), International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (ICECE) and International Conference on Information, Electronics and Vision (ICIEV).
I believe my above mentioned academic, professional and organizational experience and accolades warrant my successful nomination for the position of Award Coordinator of IEEE Bangladesh Section.

2nd Choice of position

I have only one choice

Contribution to IEEE Bangladesh Section (max 500 words)

I have been an active member of IEEE, in affiliation with IEEE Bangladesh Section, for 8 years. I have also been a member of IEEE Electron Devices Society for 8 years. In addition to these, I have also been holding active membership of IEEE Nanotechnology Council and IEEE Biometrics Council for 4 years.
For the last three years, I have been serving in the Executive Committee of IEEE ED/SSCS Bangladesh Joint Chapter in different capacities. During this time, I have been actively involved in promoting IEEE’s mission of ‘fostering technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity’ in Bangladesh by successfully organizing technical events under the banner of IEEE ED/SSCS Bangladesh Chapter. During my tenure as the Vice Chair of ED/SSCS, I was actively involved in successfully submitting the petition for IEEE EDS Student Branch of BUET. Initiation of this student branch has significantly enhanced students’ engagement with IEEE activities in Bangladesh.
